Beginnings: The Western Bulldogs, (Footscray Football Club) are an AFL (Australian Football League) club based at the Whitten Oval in West Footscray, an inner-western suburb of Melbourne. The club draws its supporter base from this traditionally working class area and plays its home matches at Etihad Stadium in Melbourne Docklands, also in the city's inner-west. Established 1883.

The Western Bulldogs submitted the Club’s list to the AFL by the Thursday, 9 November deadline in preparation for next month’s NAB AFL Draft.

The draft will be held in Sydney on Friday, November 24 where the Dogs will have picks 9, 16 and 82.

The below list includes Roarke Smith who was delisted on October 31 but the Club has committed to picking up the 21-year-old defender in the 2017 Rookie Draft in November.

Clubs are required to lodge their final list on Wednesday, 29 November at 2pm.

It’s about the people: Macrae

Four More For Macrae BulldogsTV spoke with Jack Macrae after extending his contract for another 4 years

In the end it was an easy decision for 23-year-old Jackson Macrae, recommitting to the Club that drafted him from the Oakleigh Chargers with the sixth pick overall in the  NAB AFL National Draft back in 2012.

Macrae wasn’t out of contract until the end of 2018, but has told SEN that he was keen to ‘get it all wrapped’ up ahead of time, which he did, signing a four year extension with the Club this week.

“The people at the Club,” he told SEN when asked what it was about the Bulldogs that saw him put pen to paper early.

“All the way from the top, the footy department, the staff, and obviously the players that I run out with each weekend, he says.

“I loved every minute of my time since I got drafted back in 2012.  Just the relationships I’ve managed to build, it’s been so special...

The Western Bulldogs membership department, retail outlet and café at Victoria University Whitten Oval will be closed for the upcoming Melbourne Cup Long Weekend. Please note the amended opening hours for the Club across the Melbourne Cup Weekend. Business as usual will recommence on Wednesday 8 November.
